  • Why the NSLEOA
    Updated On: Mar 22, 2017

    REASONS TO JOIN THE NSLEOA:

The NSLEOA is an affiliate of the Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers (NAPSO) , CWA Local 9110, and the AFL/CIO. We are a very strong association that provides our members with the BEST legal defense plan. Because we have retained several law firms, and numerous attorneys, will not be a conflict of interest when representing several members in the same incident.  Active NSLEOA members will receive the best representation available. (Retired members do not receive legal defense.)

NSLEOA also has three labor representatives that cover the entire state. Our Association is the only labor organization that provides members dual coverage. Our Legal Defensive Plan includes protection against:

    • Internal Affairs and OPR investigations
    • Officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and use of force incidents
    • Allegations of misconduct
    • Administrative and personnel related investigations
    • Sexual harassment investigations
    • Employee-Management Committee (EMC) hearings and arbitration
    • Collective bargaining negotiations (when it becomes available)

We work constantly to protect our members.  Our legal defense plan is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!!  Your membership also includes political representation though our professional registered lobbyists. Our lobbyists work for our members year-round, not just during the Legislative Session. Additionally, our lobbyists represent us in Washington, DC, Personnel Commission, IFC, Board of Examiners, Legislative Sub-Committees, and numerous other important venues.
